NEET Photo & Signature Rules: 2026 Reference, 2027 Status

By HyperCompressor · Published · 3 min read

Status checked on 23 October 2026: the official NEET site reviewed for this article links to the 2026 bulletin. We did not find a 2027 bulletin in the official sources checked. The rules below are a 2026 reference, not confirmed 2027 requirements. This is a dated check, not a live news feed.

The verified 2026 photo and signature limits

The NTA NEET (UG) 2026 bulletin, printed page 16, lists these image uploads:

UploadFormat2026 size range
Passport photographJPG/JPEG10–200 KB
Candidate signatureJPG/JPEG10–100 KB

The photo guidance calls for a white background and approximately 80% face visibility, including ears, without a mask. The bulletin also specifies a separate live photograph capture step. A compressed saved photo does not replace that step.

What this means for NEET 2027

Do not treat an old year in a search result as proof of the next year's rules. Check the year on the official bulletin and any later correction notices. We are not publishing a speculative 2027 registration date or claiming that its upload limits have been announced.

Keep a clear original photograph and signature scan. When the relevant application opens, record the actual file format, minimum size, maximum size and any dimensions stated beside each upload field. Those instructions determine your settings.

Prepare a copy, then check it

  1. Open the NTA photo and signature compressor. Select the explicitly labelled 2026 reference setting, or enter the requirements for your own application.
  2. Use the original file. Avoid repeatedly compressing a copy that has already lost detail.
  3. Set exact pixel dimensions only if your instructions give them. A KB range alone does not establish a pixel size.
  4. Download and open the result. Read the signature and check the photograph at normal viewing size.
  5. Use the photo upload checker on that downloaded file, including the minimum size as well as the maximum.

Why an extremely small file can still fail

“Smaller” is not always “better”. If a form requires a lower boundary, a very small file can fail even when it is below the maximum. Our compressor warns about results below your chosen minimum; it does not add empty bytes to imitate image detail. A sharper original or a higher-quality export is a better starting point.

Official sources and update policy

Read the official NEET website and the 2026 information bulletin. The date at the top records when these sources were checked. Future changes need a fresh source review; this article does not update itself.
